in the sales and marketing of
nutraceuticals (food supplements with science based, proven effects).
Springfield has launched
food supplements with unique properties and added value regularly since
1998. We closely follow the latest developments in the world of nutrients and

Many of the supplements carried by Springfield are based on scientific
studies. Currently, there are at least ten studies in progress for supplements
in our product range. This provides our main target groups – physicians and
therapists – with assurance about the effects of the supplements and their
performance in actual practice.
It is Springfield’s mission to introduce safe nutraceuticals that have
noticeable effects on people’s conditions. Important secondary objectives are
prevention and health maintenance.
The main criteria in this context are the wellbeing of and the attention paid
to people with health problems, but also to healthy people. The founders of
Springfield – Christa and Peter van Hogerhuis – want to ensure that people
receive the utmost personal attention.
Springfield is a registered brand name in Europe and ever-increasing numbers
of supplements are finding their way to users in many countries. Springfield was
either the first or one of the first to introduce a number of patented and/or
unique food supplements in Europe.
In the Netherlands, distribution is handled by dispensing chemists,
drugstores and health shops. Springfield products are being marketed in an
increasing number of other European countries, including Belgium, Germany, Spain
and the United Kingdom.
Springfield has expanded rapidly. Seven years ago, it was literally a one-man
company; now the company has fourteen employees.
Scientific support and evidence base are important parts of the organization.
A nutritionist and a pharmacist have joined the company to further enhance the
evidence basis of all supplements. Part of their task is to assist in our own
studies and to provide public information.
In the Netherlands, Springfield is the largest advertiser in trade magazines
in the field of complementary medicine. The marketing activities are very broad
and include much media attention, thus allowing us to carefully detail the
quality and depth of the information made available. Such support is made up of
comprehensive articles, which include literature references and provide
information concerning the causes of certain problems and the beneficial effects
food supplements have on these problems.
Practically all top supplements from Springfield’s product range are based on
human studies. This increases product authority and thereby the Springfield
brand.
Springfield supplements are involved in several studies directed by reputable
scientists. In the coming years, such activities will be further expanded.
A very recent example of a new innovative supplement is MenaQ7, the first
supplement containing natural vitamin K2. Leading authorities in the scientific
world have published about the health effects of vitamin K2 on osteoporoses. Two
other trials, published in 2007 in the scientific journals Blood and Journal of
Vascular research, found that vitamin K2 also had an important role in vascular
health. For the first time a natural substance was able to decrease arterial
calcification.
Other areas of study involving Springfield products are:
- macula degeneration
- learning and behaviour problems
- specific bladder conditions
- chronic fatigue syndrome
- endometriosis
- immune function.
Springfield will soon be introducing some important supplements, each of
which will be supported by new, sometimes remarkable studies.
Science-based innovation will remain an important focus for Springfield in
the coming years. This will continue to distinguish us from most other suppliers
of food supplements.
